MUSIC APPRECIATION
The intention is to explore and learn more about a wide range of music, from Jazz to Opera, ancient to contemporary; including talks and discussions and visits to concerts and events.
The group meets monthly on Friday mornings usually at the Yealm Yacht Club. Members pay £1 per meeting to cover the cost of hiring the room and equipment.
SO FAR – Composer, Andrew Wilson, has given a talk to the group about his new Clarinet Concerto which had its premier at Plymouth Guildhall . Members of the Music Appreciation Group went to that performance, which was enjoyed all the more for having heard the composer describe his work. There have been recorded talks, DVDs, cinema visits to watch opera; a talk on the history of jazz, quizzes, presentations by members etc.
