Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo twinned with the seaside town of Trebeurden in North Brittany on 26 June 2010 at a Civic ceremony in Trebeurden. John Young (then Chairman of the PC) and Michel Lissillour (then Mayor of Trebeurden) signed the formal agreement.

The Twinning resulted from the friendships built up during the YYC’s “Summertime” Races to Trebeurden, started in 1991.

On our side, we formed the “Trebeurden and Newton and Noss Twinning Association” (“TNNT”), which has the distinction of having the longest name of a Twinning association in Devon! The Chair of the Parish Council is the Honorary President of TNNT.

Trebeurden

TNNT organises:

  • Annual twinning visits alternating between Trebeurden and Newton and Noss. We are very lucky to have the Plymouth-Roscoff Brittany Ferry. Trebeurden is only a half hour’s drive from Roscoff.
  • Exhibitions in Trebeurden for our local artists.
  • Placements for students, au pairs and others wanting to learn English or French of for similar reasons.
  • Special events such as the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

If you are interested in Twinning, please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council, who will be pleased to pass your enquiry on.
